ハワイで受け継がれてきた音楽を深く敬愛し、その文化や精神を未来へつなぐことをライフワークとする

シンガー＆ウクレレアーティスト。

 

ハワイアンミュージックの本質を大切にしながら、ウクレレという楽器が持つ豊かな表現力を追求。

伝統への敬意を礎に、繊細な音色と唯一無二のストラミングで、自身だけの音楽世界を描き続けている。

 

ハワイアンミュージックは、ハワイを代表するトップミュージシャンであり、

『Na Palapalai（ナ・パラパライ）』元リーダーのKapulanakehau Tamure（カプラナケハウ・タムレ）に師事。

ケハウ本人から「You continue my legacy（私の遺産を継いで）」という言葉を託され、

その音楽と精神を受け継ぐ存在として認められている。

 

ソロウクレレは日本を代表するウクレレプレイヤー・名渡山遼に師事。

さらに、「現代クラシックギター奏法の父」と称されるアンドレス・セゴビアの系譜を受け継ぐギター奏法を学び、その理論を礎とした独自の演奏表現を確立。

ハワイの伝統的なフィーリングと高度なフィンガーテクニックを融合させた演奏は、ウクレレの可能性を大きく広げている。

 

2026年には、Kani Kaniのアルバムがハワイ最高峰の音楽賞「Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards International Special Recognition of the Year にノミネートされる。

さらに、ハワイを代表するウクレレメーカー「KAMAKA」の公式アーティストにも就任し、世界へ向けた活動の幅を広げている。

 

演奏活動と並行して全国でワークショップやレッスンも開催。

技術だけではなく「音楽を楽しむ心」を大切にした指導には定評があり国内外のコンテストで優勝・MVP・各賞を受賞するプレイヤーも数多く輩出している。

Kahua

​

Kahua is a Japanese singer and ukulele artist dedicated to preserving and sharing the music, culture, and spirit of Hawaiʻi.

 

With deep respect for traditional Hawaiian music, Kahua has developed a distinctive musical voice that blends authentic Hawaiian expression with the full artistic potential of the ukulele. Rooted in tradition yet unmistakably original, the delicate tone and signature strumming style have become defining characteristics of Kahua’s performances.

 

Kahua studied Hawaiian music under Kapulanakehau Tamure, former leader of the acclaimed Hawaiian group Nā Palapalai. Recognizing Kahua’s commitment to Hawaiian music and culture, Kehau entrusted Kahua with the words, “You continue my legacy,” acknowledging the continuation of the musical and cultural values he has devoted his life to preserving.

 

As a solo ukulele performer, Kahua also studied with Japan’s renowned ukulele virtuoso Ryo Natoyama. In addition, Kahua explored classical guitar techniques rooted in the lineage of Andrés Segovia, integrating those principles into a highly refined fingerstyle approach. This unique combination of Hawaiian tradition and advanced musicianship has expanded the expressive possibilities of the ukulele while creating a sound that is entirely Kahua’s own.

 

In 2026, Kani Kani’s debut album was selected as a finalist in the International Album category of the prestigious Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, Hawaiʻi’s highest honor in recorded music. Kahua was also welcomed as an Official Artist of KAMAKA, one of Hawaiʻi’s most respected and historic ukulele manufacturers.

 

Alongside an active performing career, Kahua teaches workshops and masterclasses throughout Japan, inspiring players of all levels to deepen both their technical skills and musical expression. Many students have gone on to earn top prizes, MVP awards, and championship titles in ukulele competitions both in Japan and internationally.
